Two Victims Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Police Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their shooter persisted following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow publicly, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press.

Officers that searched the hotel recovered two handguns and magazines when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

A group leader, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “She was famed for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to the Umurzokov family, friends, and schoolmates and grieve for of his bright future.”
