Tom Clancy's The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive planned to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This project will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Launch products are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was released in New York City, sending the nation into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. That’s where the players come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to access a broader audience, particularly in North America. Production is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it employs d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and tactical approach. Players use abilities to roll small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, players choose a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This die is then measured against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Combat Focus On Positioning and Situational Insight

Fights stress placement and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like taking cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.

A Thematic Health System

The way injuries is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but is not unconscious.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, simulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the search for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that Manhattan district. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be detailed closer to the campaign launch.
