Recent Information Surface About the Location of the Reiner Couple's Remains
New information has come to light regarding the untimely passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account referencing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now in custody and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
Additionally pushed back against widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
