Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
