Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series following 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing 3-1, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now connected for twenty-three October home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd prefer in that moment besides George Springer with his October magic," said Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
